Royal Wellington Golf Club hosted the 2017 Asia Pacific Amateur Championship : 26-29 Oct.

Supported by the Augusta National Golf Club and The R&A, the event was broadcast to 160 countries, and the winner, Lin Yuxin of China, will play in the 2018 Masters and The Open Championship at Carnoustie in 2018. The new Championship Course at RWGC was designed by SMGD and Greg Turner, and officially opened in 2014. The fun course has holes of all different lengths, and that play in all directions. It features strategically placed hazards, and contoured greens and is designed to reward boldness in thought and accuracy in play. Chief Executive of The R&A, Martin Slumbers said of the course, ‘An excellent redesign that creates a continual challenge for the golfer. Plenty of tactical options for many holes with greens that are undulating, leading to a premium for being on the correct part of the fairway and the required section of the green.’ Chairman of The Augusta National Golf Club, Fred Ridley, said ‘…the golf course just looks fantastic.’

TESTIMONIALS

"The course looks absolutely stunning and every single golfer, without exception, has said how wonderful it is and that the views are exceptional. Most of that is down to Scott's own design, imagination and flair and I am very grateful for all the effort he put into making the course so special."
